Coffee, riffs, and a collie
with no off switch.
Off work, I'm probably deep into a guitar riff, obsessing over pour technique, or being reminded by Moka that screen time is over.
Guitars since I was a kid. The rest followed.
I taught myself guitar, bass, piano, and drums — when I like a song, I want to learn every part of it. Guitars are the real obsession though. Every trip includes a guitar store visit, I have way more than I need, and I play all of them. I also have a collection of riffs I've recorded that nobody's heard — I revisit them sometimes to see if an old idea sparks something new.

The family barista. Still loves a McDonald's road trip coffee.
I've been an extra caffeinated person since high school — always black. A few years ago I started exploring what good coffee actually means, and found a whole hobby in it. Local roasters, single origin beans, the nerdy details of preparation. I'm the designated barista at home — cappuccinos for my spouse in the morning, filtered pours with the fancy beans on weekends. But I still love a basic McDonald's coffee on a road trip. No gatekeeping.
Moka runs the house. I just live here.
We got Moka at the end of 2024. He's a chocolate border collie — white and brown, so obviously we had to name him after coffee. Snow, rain, freezing rain or sun, we're out with him multiple times a day. I always say he's the one taking us for a walk. Running 15km won't tire him — border collies need mental work, so he knows a bunch of tricks. It keeps us all in shape.
What I'm listening to right now.
I like heavy, complex music — Rush, Metallica, Dream Theater, Meshuggah. But I also love the quiet end — Radiohead, City and Colour. If it has interesting parts to learn, I'm in.
